A Scribblers Social is a Letter Writing Social. It's actually exactly what it sounds like. It's a short time where people who enjoy the art of tangible written correspondence come together unplug from digital devices, sit, and scribble. They scribble letters, cards, missives, and notes. It's an enjoyable time where this wonderful form of communication is shared and practiced for its tactile and special inherent qualities.
Writing is usually a solitary practice. I figure, folks will not discover how wonderful it is if it remains behind closed doors. Thus the "Social". It's not the chattiest of socials but there is comradery and great fun. It's communal.
There is little you need to bring. There are three things you should bring:
IQS Scribblers Social details here.
Don't forget your address book.
If this is the first you've heard of "letter writing socials"... Welcome! So glad to have you here. I could offer a long explanation of the fun, the delightful stationery, the oodles of card selection. Or the fact that you'll be with others who enjoy fountain pens, washi tape, vintage postage stamps, modern calligraphy... did I mention tea & coffee? But you actually have to experience it for yourself.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words. These snap shots should help. Sign Up. Hope to see you there.
If Letter Writing Socials (LWS)are new to you, you may be wondering, "Who do I write to?" —In short, to anyone. Write to your dentist, a mentor, or an army buddy. Write to your senator. Write your grandma, your brother, or Mrs. Clause (yeah, she needs letters too). There is no wrong person to write to when you're saying, 'Hello", "Miss you", Thank you", "It'll get better"... or "I love you".
LWS allow you to get away from all the devices, the chaos (ahem , election hoohah), and gather with others who are taking just an hour or two to put pen to paper and scribble a note. You can do this!
Sign up. The minimal cost gives you access to stationery, note cards, envelops, and the stamp. We'll even take all the outgoing mail to the post office for you! C'mon, it's too easy.
First one is Nov 8th. Perfect day to keep things in perspective!
Whether you're a constant scribbler or not, this is the time of year we start to feel the itch with the holidays approaching. THUS we have the Letter Writing Socials. Why go it alone?
Get your paper and pens ready!

Hello, I’m Nina, the maven behind the
IQS blog. I’m all about creativity (ya think?).
I work in several disciplines. So it's no surprise that the Art of Letter Writing would come knocking on my door. Smitten!
However, I did not want to simply add MailArt as a discipline to my website. Thus it became the IQS Blog within my site. And that is why there are TWO navigation menus. *Here’s a Tip: stick with the BLOG Menu in this Column. The main site menu will lead you astray into dark places where you will be screaming for help and no one will hear you.
